Uh, “Hi”, blog.
We’ve been out of touch as of recently, er, well, more like the past eight months.
See, here’s the thing. It’s hard to keep writing openly when you’ve got so much going on that it’s hard to share publicly. This year was rocky at various times, to say the least. It was hard going for a while.
2001 was a year of huge personal transformation for me, and I’ve safely made it to the end of the year, happy to look back at my personal accomplishments with a sense of relief. What was so crazy about this year? Maybe I’ll tell you some stories, down the road, dear reader – it’s easier to share now that it’s all in the past. (And hey, what’s in the past, is in the past, ammiright?)
I’ve wanted to get back to the blog for a while, but there’s nothing as hard as taking that first step. I’ve had posts in a draft folder for more than two months! But what reminded me of why I like to write so much was reflecting on the first blog I wrote, back in 2007 when I was traveling England and Europe.
I wrote that blog to keep in touch with family and hopefully to entertain whoever else was curious about my travels. (Fun fact: I’ll never really know the actual readership, as analytics only came along in 2009, according to blogspot.) But the real reason I wrote was for me. It was challenging to be across an ocean in a new environment, albeit a temporary one. Recently reading some of the posts again reminded me that this isn’t hard to do, and it can be really fun! And, like I said, I’m doing it for me. Maybe you’ll like it too, who knows?
So… here’s to 2012. A year of more change, more new things, MORE. That’s my word for 2012. Stay tuned for a couple annual review posts (we all do ’em) and then we’re onto the new year.
See you in 2012.
